The 2016 SRVS holiday season was one for the books! SRVS Cares kicked off the season by hosting their annual toy drive from November 28th through December 15th. Over 200 toys were collected and given to children of SRVS staff who were in need of assistance during the holiday season.
SRVS’ traditional wrapping of gifts for the SRVS Holiday Angels was held December 15-16, with volunteers from Medtronic and FedEx. Volunteers wrapped the donations received for the 125 angels. This year was Medtronic’s fifth year volunteering with SRVS Holiday Angels.
A great time was had by all at the 1st annual SRVS Holiday parade hosted by the SRVS Learning Center on Friday, December 16th. The parade included musical entertainment, holiday floats and a visit from SRVS’ Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus! Special thank you to the following participants: Mrs. Vernekie Crump and Innovative Behavior Services, Longview Heights Seventh-day Adventist Church drumline, Felecia Robinson and Robinson Enterprises, Carol Branch and the SRVS Learning Center, the Memphis Fire Department and various SRVS departments.
Although Santa Claus couldn’t attend the 1st annual SRVS Holiday parade, he did make a stop at SRVS Kids & Families on Friday, December 16th for their annual lunch with Santa.
In an effort to spread some holiday cheer, SRVS’ Community Based Services hosted a holiday party for the seniors at Lewis Senior Center, located in Memphis! Lunch was served by the center staff. Special thanks to SRVS Director of Outreach Services Felecia Robinson, Lisa Fields and Joyce Beaty for coordinating this event with Lewis Senior Center.
Thank you to all who donated to the SRVS Holiday Angels and the SRVS Cares annual toy drive, participated in the 1st Annual SRVS Holiday parade and volunteered within the various departments. Your efforts helped make the holiday season one SRVS will never forget.
