Family Support Holds Annual Fundraiser

The Tennessee Family Support Program local Council District 9 sponsored a car wash and vendor fair at Southbrook Mall on May 12, 2018. It was the local council’s annual fundraiser.  The program provides support to people with disabilities and assistance to family members caring for loved ones.

Assistance is available to people unable to meet their needs for minor home and vehicle modifications, respite care, specialized equipment and related disability supports through other agencies, organizations, or funding sources.  Family Support is a state of Tennessee program, administered in the Shelby and Fayette Counties by SRVS.  Funds from the car wash will provide assistance to families who care for loved ones with disabilities, have significant needs and currently waiting for state funding.

Hampton Elected to TNCO Board for Three-Year Term

MEMPHIS, Tenn., April 11, 2018 -- SRVS Executive Director Tyler Hampton has been elected to a three-year term on the Tennessee Community Organization (TNCO) board of directors.  TNCO is a statewide trade association of disability services provider agencies whose supports help more than 8000 Tennesseans with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Hampton has been executive director of SRVS since 2012. He also served as TNCO board president from 2015-2016.   Founded in Memphis in 1962, SRVS is the state’s largest disability services provider, delivering community living, employment, children’s services and other supports to 1600 people.

SRVS kicks-off 55 Days of Service

SRVS kicked-off its 55 Days of Service community volunteer project in recognition of its 55th anniversary at the agency picnic on June 1.  Pictured are Jakhari  Harris, SRVS Learning Center participant, SRVS Executive Director Tyler Hampton, Crystal McAnally, human resources manager at Cintas Corp., Daniel Farnham, Cintas production manager, David Kitchens, a Cintas employee supported by SRVS, and Karen and Michael Kitchens, David’s sister-in-law and brother. David announced the 55 Days of Service project at the picnic. People supported by the agency, coordinated by staff,  will volunteer at various locations in Memphis and the surrounding area for 55 days leading up to its anniversary on Nov. 1. Volunteer activities will include included the FedEx St. Jude Classic, the Ronald McDonald House, MIFA meal delivery, church clean-ups, and free laundry supply distribution at area coin-op laundries.
