17th Annual Spirit of SRVS Presented by Sedgwick
The 17th Annual Spirit of SRVS, presented by Sedgwick and Wanda and John Barzizza, entertained more than 800 guests at the Hilton Memphis on Saturday, August 1. The event raised more than $150,000 through ticket sales, auction items, sponsorships and donations.
More than 30 restaurants and vendors were present and gave guests a variety of delicious appetizers, desserts and wines to taste. The Company d Dancers performed for their 14th time. SRVS Star Performers, pictured at right, rocked the house with a dance to "Uptown Funk," and SRVS Kids & Families graduate Rachel Mast gave a special presentation entitled “I Love My Life.”
A ‘spirited’ bid battle took place in the live auction over Lisa Dick’s commemorative artwork, “Making the World a Bigger Place,” with the winning bid going for $6,500. Due to the battle, Lisa Dick offered to paint an additional commemorative artwork to the second highest bidder, if he agreed to match the winning bid. The offer was gladly accepted.
After a brief intermission, the auction floor was cleared away to reveal a dance floor for patrons with a concert by the band, The King Beez. The band kept many on the dance floor well into the night.
On October 1, SRVS concluded the Spirit of SRVS with a traditional post event thank you to all the volunteers who helped make the event a success. The volunteer party and mini-auction was held at the Lichterman Nature Center with food catered by Off the Square Catering. SRVS staff and administration extend their utmost gratitude to all who supported the Spirit of SRVS event. Thank you to all the sponsors, auction donors and community volunteers, and to the Spirit of SRVS chairs and committee members, pictured at left, board of directors, staff and people supported who made this event a success.
